More refugees, anyone?

Refugees. No matter where you look on the planet today, there is a refugee crisis close by. Over “6.7 million displaced Syrians seeking refuge in Central Europe” are the kind of headline that instill uncertainty, if not raw fear, in some. But what about other refugee crises? There is the Ukraine war, which has led to over 7 million Ukrainians fleeing across Europe, and then there is the largest refugee crisis in the last years, the Venezuelan Crisis.

Over 9 million Venezuelans have left the country since 2014. Colombian authorities estimate that up 5 million Venezuelans have crossed the border to Colombia since then. Today, Venezuelans do many menial jobs in many villages, towns and cities across Colombia. They are now part of daily life in Colombia. As with other refugees around the world, resilience defines their daily life, but what about their abilities, their gifts, their creativity?
